“This international alliance is the key to improving the competitiveness of the hydrogen value chain”

New hydrogen research alliance with the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senften

TECNALIA signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg to strengthen the terms of their long-standing collaboration. Ekain Fernández, Head of Hydrogen Technologies in TECNALIA stated “In our path to enhance the hydrogen value-chain competitiveness, international alliances are key. This agreement will allow us to join capabilities, bridge talent gaps and seek further joint technology developments in the field of hydrogen and electrolysis”.

As per Prof. Dr. Lars Röntzsch, Chair of Thermal Energy Technology and Head of the Hydrogen Research Center at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, outlines: "We want to further expand our joint cooperation, even beyond the current CLEANHYPRO project. The primary goals are joint R&D projects and the exchange of students and doctoral candidates as part of our research. I see a lot of potential for both sides."

Prof. Wolfram Berger, Vice President for Internationalization at BTU, emphasizes: "This agreement is an excellent example of how we are networking in research, but also in particular with regard to our young scientists. Applied projects also offer a number of points of contact for our teaching and studies in the engineering fields - a good opportunity for Spanish students to get to know our BTU and our good study and research conditions."

Mor information about TECNALIA and BTU

TECNALIA has a track record of collaboration with BTU. Both institutions are part of CLEANHYPRO, the largest R&D project on electrolysers in Europe, that is led by TECNALIA. TECNALIA, as consortium leader of theThis 28 partner EU-funded project, has recently organised a project update meeting at BTU to discuss the development of pilot lines for the production and testing of electrodes electrolyser key componentsfor water electrolysis.

The Open Innovation Test Bed is a central contact point for stakeholders and enables international companies to participate. As part of CLEANHYPRO, Showcase 1Showcases will provide manufacturing and testing opportunities for relevant industry partners to evaluateforof novel materials, electrode materialselectrodes, membranes and cells, separators or cell designs for pressurized electrolysis operationthe main four electrolysis technologies for relevant industry partners.
