Accessibility is becoming increasingly important in today’s cities, not only because the population is ageing, but also because of the growing awareness of accessibility needs when creating cities.
This forum will assess the challenges urban environments are facing today in the context of universal inclusion. Special attention will be paid to the latest advances of the research and professional worlds.
Five thematic panels
The event will feature five thematic panels, which will weigh on the main current lines of research and the different approaches of the invited entities:
- Accessibility and digitisation of buildings
- Accessibility and disruptive technologies
- Accessibility and senior housing: Safety and comfort

- Accessibility and emerging urban models
TECNALIA’s participation
Carolina García Madruga, Urban Transformation Researcher at TECNALIA, will moderate the panel on “Accessibility and disruptive technologies.” Panellists will discuss different aspects of accessibility based on data and the barriers of disruptive technologies from a more social perspective. They will also address the challenges and opportunities in the field of technology applied to accessibility and urban planning with criteria of equity and sustainability.
Silvia Urra Uriarte, Urban Transformation Researcher at TECNALIA, will also participate in this panel. Silvia will present the Urbanage initiative, which brings together co-creation, research and disruptive new technologies to transform urban planning within the public sector to create inclusive and age-friendly cities.
