The additive manufacturing of plastics and composites offers high dynamics associated, among other factors, to the digitalisation and Industry 4.0 driver. During the last three years, a sub-line of work oriented to the development of printing technologies for continuous fibre composites has become consolidated.
The 3D printing of this family of materials raises high expectations of competitive improvement since the costs of traditional moulding processes limit or prevent its expansion into sectors other than aerospace.
Programme
- The currently most outstanding technologies will be comparatively analysed.
- Areas of opportunity will be identified for each technology.
- The advances of some fields of application, which had not been yet published, such as additive preforming, will be presented.
