TECNALIA will participate in the technical conference on technology and innovation for complex joints

Synthetic adhesives made from non-renewable resources are commonly used in the furniture, packaging and construction sectors as crucial components for bonding two surfaces.

However, both industries and communities increasingly recognise that these materials contribute significantly to carbon emissions and are not sustainable for long-term development. It is necessary to move away from petrochemical resources towards alternative sources obtained from biomass that align with the principles of the bioeconomy and the circular economy.

  • There is growing interest in obtaining different components for the manufacture of adhesives using environmentally friendly raw materials.
  • Vegetable oils are excellent alternatives to produce polyurethanes, acrylates or plasticisers in adhesive applications. They are readily biodegradable, highly functional and retain good adhesive properties.
