CREATING THE NEW MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY TOGETHER

The new industrial company is not a company of the future. It already exists. It is all around you and TECNALIA is your partner to build it together.

The eagerly awaited 31st edition of the International Machine Tool Biennial, BIEMH 22, came after a context of great uncertainty in which industrial companies have had to reinvent themselves and adopt new solutions to maintain their competitiveness and gain resilience for the future.

During this time, our multi-technology and multi-sectoral capabilities have enabled us to collaborate with various industrial companies, designing and deploying the technological solutions for them to address not only business challenges but also social and environmental ones.

Thanks to everything we have learnt and built on this journey together, we designed our TECNALIA stand in such a way that it wouldenable us to experience first-hand what this new industrial company is like. Bringing together key innovations that impact all areas of industrial business to make it more competitive and sustainable, evolving to be:

If you missed it or want to come back and visit our stand at BIEMH 2022, enter to discover and experience the technological solutions that we have developed in collaboration with different companies to facilitate their evolution in all these dimensions, towards this new, more competitive and sustainable industrial company.

You can access these key innovations through four unique areas where you can visit four essential spaces within the new industrial company, in which those solutions that advance in both competitiveness and environmental sustainability, in line with our strategic vision that pursues a double economic and social impact in all our innovations, are highlighted.

Manufacturing Stage: Where streamlined production is adapted to suit any manufacturing scenario

In order to address the need for production systems that are much easier to configure and adapt to the increasing number of variations of products requested, we will showcase a “streamlined production” space organised into a MANUFACTURING STAGE in which manufacturing is adapted to various requirements through an orchestration of multiple robots and mobile platforms.

The manufacturing scenario displayed on our stand at BIEMH22 brings you closer to TECNALIA’s developments to intelligently coordinate a set of mobile robotic platforms that are synchronised and cooperate with each other (regardless of the manufacturer) to execute several of the multiple combinations of processes that they can automate:

  • A central robot on an Autorecon mobile platform developed by TECNALIA, which synchronises with the rest of the robots to complete a welding and part inspection cycle, and also resolves the deburring process for other types of parts.
  • Around it, two AGVs supplied by Robotnik handle the intralogistics of parts between the robots and the production machines surrounding the Manufacturing Stage.
  • An additional robot on an Autorecon mobile platform is synchronised with the intralogistics of the central robot to carry out welding of the parts.
  • The bi-armed Robouton mobile robot (developed by TECNALIA with technology from Kuka and Robotnik) solves the 3D vision inspection of welded parts, along with polishing operations on a third family of parts.

The stage also has an interactive station (with robots supplied by Fegemu Solutions) to experience TECNALIA’s easy-to-program applications for configuring robot tasks from different manufacturers and controls.

Digital Brain: The 360° digital control centre to control all facets of the industrial company at any time and anywhere

A “Digital Command Centre” or DIGITAL BRAIN can be seen, which centralises the applications that control all aspects of the company. Data intelligenceis made available to people to help them work with a 360° vision, removing barriers and facilitating control any time, anywhere, in a natural and self-explanatory way that does not require advanced analytics expertise.

In this space of the DIGITAL BRAIN we will open the doors to this “command centre” with several of our developments with industrial companies that enable them to advance in the smart control of key aspects of their business:

  • DENNDATA is the analytics and quality prediction application of DENN, a manufacturer that designs machines for sheet metal forming using different types of technologies. The DENNDATA application allows for the prognosis of part breakage, with mathematical models generated on data from previous manufacturing batches. This makes it possible to determine whether the process is working within the expected operating ranges and is able to automatically determine common faults.
  • VIXION enables remote integrated monitoring (IIoT), incorporating new sensors, integrating systems and developing specific applications to monitor the performance and key maintenance factors of machines.
  • SZENDEX is a specialised logistics and courier company with a strong presence in the healthcare sector, where traceability and delivery times are critical. The BIOFRAME solution consists of a smart container with a cloud platform that automatically tracks the traceability history and real-time location of shipments in transit. Access to the container is NFC controlled and has temperature and drop sensors.

These solutions have led to new lines of business and even the creation of new technology-based companies. They are an example of TECNALIA’s collaboration with companies from multiple industrial sectors in the digitalisation of their processes. We transform the digital information collected into knowledge for the improvement and optimisation of process quality, for efficiency in material and energy consumption and to offer services that facilitate a qualitative leap for the business.

Innolab: Where physical manufacturing and digital elements come together to create new developments with high economic and social impact

INNOLAB is the space where industrial companies can conceptualise and mature new developments that connect physical manufacturing and digital elements to create high impact disruptive solutions that transform both processes and products.

When it comes to showcasing the most disruptive innovation in terms of new robotic systems which collaborate with people and optimise ancillary processes in industry, a quadruped robot equipped with mobile capabilities and smart environmental recognition will accompany visitors around the stand. This is a differential example of the integration of new robot models along with developments in flexible robotics and AI technologies for different industrial applications: monitoring of industrial environments (remotely operated and autonomous), mapping of facilities, access to high-risk environments for people, etc.

At the INNOLAB on our stand at BIEMH2022, we also presented the possibilities offered by printed electronic technologies for the evolution of industrial developments through lighter components and more efficient, energy-saving and sustainable solutions.

We also presented developments, such as:

  • Metal tubes manufactured for TUBACEX with temperature sensor and wireless communication capability.
  • Capacitive push buttons and lighting circuits embedded in composite with patented technology that does not reduce the structural properties of the composite.
  • Door trim for ANTOLIN with structural colour zone made with patented 3D Direct Printing technology.
  • Heater printed by silk-screen printing on metal with dielectric coating for anti-icing system to prevent the formation of ice.
  • Sheers manufactured with patented technology based on electrospinning that can be laminated with high stretch textiles.

Extended Services: An extended approach to the relationship and interconnection between the industrial company and its value chain

The EXTENDED SERVICES space shows how digital technologies are able to “open” physical facilities and facilitate a much more immersive, efficient and secure communication between an industrial company and its value chain, to collaborate and deliver services.

In this space we are committed to the digital solutions created by TECNALIA that enable you to interact so that industry can easily integrate these technologies and transform their service provision and the way in which their customers access valuable information.

KAYROX is the web platform developed by TECNALIA for the simple creation and consumption of immersive experiences through virtual and augmented reality technologies without the need for technical knowledge, regardless of the device on which the content is consumed. We have two types of service that the company can build based on KAYROX:

  • A remote assistance service in which expert personnel can remotely solve maintenance problems in real time and give instructions to personnel in situ.
  • The creation of immersive experiences through which the customer can travel virtually to our facilities, interact with the equipment and visually review its operation and performance. You can experiment with this service through an immersive virtual visit to the TECNALIA Robotics Laboratory, via PC, Tablet or immersive glasses.

An additional example of these extended services is the MyTecnalia platform for the remote management of projects between TECNALIA and our customers. This platform enhances our 360° communication with companies, which can combine interaction with physical laboratories via a remote and connected relationship through digital tools.

In this EXTENDED SERVICES section, we also explain the essential role of cybersecurity in any development in which we digitalise the connection to our value chain, and we show you a demonstration of our developments to combat attacks on industrial equipment
