One of the aims of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive is for all new buildings to be nZEB (nearly Zero-Energy Buildings). Building-integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) are essential in order to achieve this ambitious goal.

BIPV products enable the combination of energy efficiency production and the functionality of traditional construction elements used in the building envelope.

We'll present a real example of semi-transparent ventilated cladding with integrated photovoltaic elements. It lets light through partially and improves the temperature conditions inside the building. It has been integrated into a building with a unique shape that has required a special effort both in terms of design (architectural integration) and installation.

The facade was installed in one of TECNALIA's office buildings in San Sebastián. There will be a guided tour of the façade.

We'll focus on various aspects of design and installation of the BIPV elements. This will enable participants to learn more about BIPV products, their design, application and installation, taking into account safety aspects.

Aimed at different actors working in the BIPV industry:

  • Manufacturers
  • Designers
  • Architects
  • Installers
