3D PRINTING IN ARCHITECTURE
On 21st and 22nd March, a dual event related to 3D printing will be held, in which leading researchers, architects, industrial partners and new creation teams in Europe will participate in an IAAC round table on the first day, under the title of '3D Printing in Architecture' to discuss the potential and challenges of additive manufacturing technologies in this field.
The debate will be moderated by Alex Dubor and Edouard Cabay (IAAC) and includes panellists, such as Iñigo Calderón (TECNALIA), Areti Markopoulou (IAAC), Enrico Dini (DShape), Lapo Naldoni (WASP), Eric Barendse (Studio RAP), Luis Rodolfo Clemente Ortega (Acciona), Rena Giesecke (ETH Zürich) and Mahriz Zakeri (Xtree).
The next day, IAAC will open this year's OTF (Open Thesis Fabrication) prototype, a 5-metre 3D printed wall section built at the IAAC Valldaura Campus which exhibits part of the potential of the technology for new structural and climatic solutions in adobe constructions, one of the oldest construction materials used by man.
