Learn about the latest innovations in the bioeconomy sector; agricultural biomass

We will be participating in the "Entrepreneurship and innovation for the recovery of agricultural biomass" summer course, organised by Almeria University from 9th to 11th July at the Cajamar Culture Centre - Casa de las Mariposas; Experimental Station "Las Palmerillas".

Over several days, this course will cover all aspects related to entrepreneurship in companies in the bio sector, with the aim of awakening entrepreneurial interest through developments and innovations in the bioeconomy sector.

The course speakers include our colleague, Thomas Dietrich, researcher at Health and Healthy Eating, expert in bioprocesses and recovery of biomass rich in fibre to explore its potential use in the manufacture of nutritional supplements. His presentation will be on "From idea to business. Recovery of biomass fibre".

Experts in recovery and clean technologies

  • TECNALIA works on the development of clean technologies, the treatment of by-products and the vrecovery of renewable raw materials from food processing and production, as well as the development of ingredients.
  • We also research, design and optimise innovative the agri-food sector’s biomass recovery processes with a circular economy approach.

Five keys to this summer course

  • Expert speakers in Bioeconomy, Cajamar and the Andalusian Regional Government will present the Map of the innovation ecosystem, funding opportunities and policies in the field of the bioeconomy.
  • The Biobased Industries Consortium will address the issue of process scale-up and the initiative of Europe's leading consortium of bio-based companies, including how to tackle the "valley of death" of innovation.
  • Technology centres will discuss unique projects on the latest technologies, methods and innovations developed in recent years, as well as those that finance and foster entrepreneurship.
  • The participating start-ups will present their experiences as success stories.
  • Finally, in the debate blocks organised in the afternoons, the opportunities of the Almeria agro-ecosystem and its positioning in the transition to sustainable production models will be analysed with companies, waste managers and researchers.
