The EU Construction Products Regulation No. 305/2011 (CPR) establishes a voluntary CE marking to attest conformity with the European Technical Assessment (ETA), for innovative construction products not covered by or significantly deviating from a harmonised standard.
The ETA is a harmonised, officially recognised mechanism which is highly regarded by the market. It is issued to attest that innovative products or products not covered by a standard conform to requirements in EU member States, allowing them to be used in EU countries without having to apply for national approval or certification in each.
At present, over 2,700 manufacturers (SMEs and major companies) and more than 8,200 ETAs stand witness to its usefulness as a tool to validate innovation and allow products to move across countries.
