From 14th to 18th May, IFAT, the world’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste, and raw materials management will take place in Munich. At this trade fair, TECNALIA will present its technological solutions in this field at Stand B2.241/340 .

We have developed technologies to obtain value from waste, such as technologies for the recovery of strategic/critical materials using hydrometallurgical-pyrometallurgical combined processes; technologies for the valorisation of metals of economic/industrial interest based on waste using thermal processes; and technologies for the recovery of critical metals with a high electrical-electronic waste value using ionic liquids (Ionometallurgy). For these purposes, we have developed ionic liquids and DESs for their application in innovative and high value-added sectors (fuel desulphurisation, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, etc.).  

Our technological solutions for the integral use of biomass and secondary streams contemplate their exploitation as an energy source (electricity, heat, biofuels) and their transformation into alternative raw materials for other production processes. Our in-depth knowledge of the value chains in the use and recycling of biomass enables us to accompany companies in their search for new business models that make them more competitive and innovative.   

As for water treatment, we have developed wastewater depuration solutions (COD and BOD removal) using chemical and electrochemical methods. We recover high value-added ionic compounds through membrane separation via pressure and electro-membranes (electro-dialysis, electro-electro-dialysis); as well as acids by diffusion dialysis. Our technologies also focus on efficient desalination.

We work in the circular economy framework. We perform diagnoses and develop operating solutions to increase the sustainability of products and the production and territorial systems and generate economic value for companies (savings due to efficiency, increased competitiveness, etc.) and at sectorial and/or territorial level. We support the generation of new business opportunities linked to industrial symbiosis.
