We will be extending the San Sebastián International Film Festival with the meetup on “Ethereum - the decentralised blockchain movement for film and music” on Friday the 21st of September at the Impact Hub Donosti headquarters, in collaboration with SingularDTV, the platform chosen by David Lynch to produce “The Happy Worker”.
Blockchain is changing how films are financed, how copyrights are managed, and even the way in which we enjoy films. Platforms where consumers are paid to watch films already exist.
The meetup will discuss the tools that SingularDTV has at the moment that film makers, musicians, artists, journalists, consumers, and essentially any content creator can use to develop their projects and cut out intermediaries, becoming managers of their own economy.
SingularDTV is the pioneering company in building an alternative entertainment economy, removing intermediaries and bringing artists closer to their audiences. Driven by Ethereum, the platform managers truly understand the ins and outs of the entertainment industry and the problems faced by content creators.
SingularDTV plans to launch the beta version of a content distribution platform without intermediaries by the end of the year. The platform intents to unite artists with their public, so that creators can directly relate to a global audience. Consumers will also be rewarded for sharing and directly interacting with their favourite content.
TECNALIA on the other hand is becoming one of the benchmarks in Blockchain, as shown by its participation in the EEA (The Enterprise Ethereum Alliance), The Linux Foundation and the agreement with Hyperledger, the main “open source” Blockchain community. We are also part of Alastria, the first multi-sectoral consortium promoted by companies and institutions to set up a semi-public infrastructure driven using Blockchain permissions.
The event will feature professionals such as:
Lander Rubio, an economist, MBA, and certified by the first Fintech programme by the MIT. Rubio is a blockchain professor at the University of Deusto and a founding member of the Bchain Association aimed at sharing knowledge and raising awareness on blockchains in the Basque Country.
Judit Gómez Bengoa, Tecnalia’s media project manager. Judit has a degree in Visual and Auditory Image Science and has worked for TVE, Euskal Telebista, Antena 3 and TeleMadrid. She has also been the photographer for some major magazines.
Sergio Martínez, who has a degree in the audiovisual branch of Fine Arts and has produced numerous cinematographic works, including: “Gris sobre Verde” (Grey on Green) a documentary on urban speculation which won an award at the 1st edition of Cantabria Visual, an online short film festival; “Aroma-Sed” (Aroma-Thirst), Sergio’s first fictional short film which was selected to appear at festivals in Mexico and Ireland, and “Transforma el futuro” (Transform the Future) which was a finalist at the Barcelona International Environmental Film Festival (FICMA) in 2014. Sergio was also the assistant director of “Retrovisor” (Rear-view Mirror) by Alberto Lavin which has won awards at several festivals including the New York City International Film festival.
Iván Gutiérrez, a member of Tecnalia’s research area on cybersecurity and blockchain. He has a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of the Basque Country and a master's degree in Computer Engineering and Smart Systems. As a member of Tecnalia’s team, Iván has been involved in several research projects on cryptographic chips, contactless technologies and mobile devices. His work has allowed him to apply his knowledge in cybersecurity to blockchain for Tecnalia’s Blockchain Innovation Centre, a team that he coordinates. By collaborating with organisations such as Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, Hyperledger Corporate Membership and Alastria, Iván has developed technical skills in the platforms and related implementations.
Gustavo Segovia, a Telecommunications Engineer and MBA. After working for Capgemini and Vodafone in the telecommunications industry, he now works on Blockchain entrepreneurship projects. Segovia is a partner and trainer at the Ethereum Madrid Think Tank, he co-founded Agorachain, a community focussed on spreading the decentralisation culture, and is the co-founder of the Blockchain consultancy OpenLab.
Ander Juaristi Alamo will also be at the debate table. He was one of the core members of the Tourism Observatory in the Basque Country and he defines himself on LinkedIn as a real hacker with a passion for Computer Sciences. He has a master's degree in Information Security from the Royal Holloway University of London and has a passion for cryptography and network security. But the work that he is most proud of is the implementation of security mechanisms in NUD/Linux. Ander also plays in a heavy metal group, and will talk about the impact of blockchain on the music industry.
Guillermo Callejo, who currently works at Coin Governance System (CGS), the start-up that is developing an on-chain governance mechanism to protect ICO investors, will give a practical demonstration of how to upload a creative project to the Tokit gallery. Before working at CGS, Guillermo worked at IASP, the worldwide network of science parks and innovation hubs. Guillermo is also an RSK ambassador and will finish his economics studies at the University of Bath this year.
The event will be presented and moderated by Dawamoru Fernández, a social entrepreneur, Blockchain secretary, and collaborator on the “Calle Blockchain” Podcast.
The event has been organised by Impact Hub Donostia with the collaboration of Blockchain Media, the go-to blockchain website for cultural and creative industries. It will be led by the journalist Covadonga Fernández and starts at 18:00 with a duration of two hours. The debate will continue over a few beers and a snack at Tabakalera, the old Donostia tobacco factory which has been converted into an international contemporary cultural centre.
