The TORNADO project aims to contribute to the European Green Deal through the transition to a safe circular economy.
A key commitment of the European Green Deal is the "zero pollution" goal. This goal aims to better protect citizens and the environment from harmful chemicals and to drive innovation by promoting the use of safer and more sustainable chemicals.
To this end, the EU Commission approved the Chemicals Sustainability Strategy (CSS) on 14 October 2020.
The TORNADO proposal should accelerate the transition towards a circular economy and a climate-neutral society, while preventing damage to human health and the environment throughout the life cycle, as well as improving the competitiveness of the European chemical industry and its value chain.
In this webinar we will focus on:
- What are the main challenges for PFAS?
- The future of PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances or perfluorochemicals - EU restrictions)
- How the TORNADO project could contribute to the transition to a safer circular economy by designing new water- and oil-repellent bio-based coatings that avoid the use of PFAS.
- Three different but interconnected innovations will follow:
- New water- and oil-repellent bio-based biomonomers.
- New organic and bio-based organic and hybrid coatings with water and oil repellency for the textile, packaging, and kitchen sectors.
- Design of new coatings following safe and sustainable criteria (SSbD).
