“The 6SAVA initiative accelerates technology and innovation in Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina”
TECNALIA is working on the development of SIXTHSENSE technology to improve safety at work within the framework of the 6SAVA initiative
We bring SIXTHSENSE technology to life in order to improve safety at work. To ensure deployment and real-world impact, our portable health monitoring device and our ICT solution for operational management are being adapted to various Industry 4.0 applications. One example is improving the safety and operational efficiency of workers in industrial environments, such as factories, construction sites and high-riskmanufacturing environments.
This is part of the 6SAVA initiative, a 30-month action that brings together 5 partners from 4 European countries to highlight the value of cross-border collaboration and expertise. Led by TECNALIA, this initiative ensures a global approach to the valorisation and exploitation of technology, in line with the strategic needs of the Sava River region. The initiative accelerates technology and innovation in three countries: Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
A year of driving innovation in the Sava River region
After its first year, it has laid the groundwork for effective collaboration across industry, research and politics in the Sava River region. The main milestones of the first year:
- The first year has been dedicated to establishing the initiative’s main frameworks. For example, strengthening its on-line presence and developing initial technology demonstrators to showcase our technology to a wide network of stakeholders.
- Efforts focused on aligning regional R&D funding initiatives through internal and external knowledge transfer.
- A framework agreement has been reached between the 6SAVA coordinator, TECNALIA and the Banja Luka City Development Agency (CIDEA) to reinforce regional cooperation and strengthen the innovation ecosystem.
- A major milestone has been the launch of the 6SAVA Technology Uptake Platform, designed to connect end-users with tailored services and innovative solutions developed within the Consortium. This digital hub connects stakeholders, fosters collaboration and facilitates the adoption of technological innovations in the fields of industrial and civil protection.
Going forward, the Consortium will focus on expanding the 6SAVA platform and positioning it as a central hub for technology adoption and collaboration.
The next steps include:
- Pilot deployment of the technology.
- Further alignment of innovations with industry and policy needs.
- Fostering partnerships to strengthen the regional ecosystem.
- Pursuing funding opportunities to drive impactful technological adoption.
About 6SAVA
6SAVA (6thSense Asset Valorisation Action) is a strategic coordination support action aimed at propelling the mature outcomes of the H2020 SIXTHSENSE to a wider market.
Led by TECNALIA, along with Telegroup Croatia (Croatia), Telegroup Bosnia (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Global Electronic Solution (Serbia), the 6SAVA consortium guarantees a global approach to the valorisation and exploitation of technology. This approach is in line with the strategic needs of the region.
The initiative focuses on the strategic valorisation of the assets developed through SIXTHSENSE, with the aim of setting new standards in health monitoring, safety and operational efficiency for first responders and workers in demanding industrial environments.
SIXTHSENSE has developed an innovative system for monitoring vital parameters of first responders in extreme environments. The initiative harnesses two assets:
- A health monitoring device that ensures the safety of employees in physically demanding manufacturing jobs, starting with the cement, petrochemical and paper industries.
- A comprehensive IT solution for firefighter operational management, with potential for generalisation and application across the civil protection sector.
