"The Textile and Fashion Circularity Report outlines the main environmental and technological challenges facing the sector"
Our colleague, Héctor Viniegra has participated in the new Textile and Fashion Circularity Report 2023-24 by the Fashion and Textile Observatory and PWC.
The Textile and Fashion Circularity Report covers the main environmental and technological challenges of the sector, such as water management, elimination of toxic waste, the need for digitalisation and eco-design, among others. It also details more technical aspects, such as the impact of new European regulations, and the need for extensive public-private partnership to boost its momentum.
Key technologies in the field of preparation for recycling
Hector provided a review of the key technologies that are revolutionising the sector in the field of preparation for recycling, which directly address sustainability challenges.
Our colleague is committed to accurate and efficient identification, where artificial vision will be key, with cameras and algorithms trained to capture and analyse textile image detection; the role of advanced robotics in process automation and cost reduction; the importance of advanced sensoring and real-time data monitoring to improve decision-making; and, finally, he delves into the processes of separating materials from mixed compositions in order to make the most of raw materials, the great challenge in today’s context.
