TECNALIA takes part in a conference on the transfer and dissemination of food innovation initiatives as a developer of new technologies for the sector

TECNALIA plays an essential role in the promotion of innovation in the agri-food sector with technological solutions that apply to the entire value chain of this sector. TECNALIA’s work focuses on developing new technology that helps companies create healthy and sustainable food. It has a large team and many years of experience in this field.

In this context, on 25 March TECNALIA took part in the Conference on the transfer and dissemination of food innovation initiatives organised by the Department of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Basque Government. It took place at the Araba Technology Park.

Food innovation

The Department of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Basque Government wants to turn the first sector and its value chains into an economic and competitive actor. To this end, it is committed to coordinating and supporting an open, active and proactive ecosystem, within a public-private relationship. It is part of a scenario of joint work where various stakeholders can contribute knowledge and capabilities, especially in the field of innovation, integrating synergies and capabilities.

With this aim in mind, the 3rd Conference on the transfer and dissemination of food innovation initiatives, led by Basque companies in collaboration with various stakeholders that are part of the Basque food ecosystem, was organised. The meeting aimed to:

  • Promote the transfer of knowledge and technology between various stakeholders in the food sector.
  • Share the progress and results of innovation projects led by Basque companies.
  • Foster collaboration and networking between companies, research centres and public entities.
  • Identify new opportunities for innovation and development in the food sector.

TECNALIA and its contribution to the food sector

TECNALIA works closely with companies in the sector to anticipate the main challenges of the future of food, promoting business competitiveness and improving people’s quality of life. TECNALIA focuses on obtaining and developing healthy ingredients and natural and functional foods adapted to the demands of an increasingly health-focused society. It also works on the digitalisation and sustainability of food production processes, which is key to the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector

The conference included the participation of Izaskun Marañón, Healthy Food Researcher at TECNALIA, who took part in the “Product Innovation” session. Together with representatives of Bizkarra and Destilerías Acha , they gave the main keys to the “Chocolate truffles with Basque personality” initiative.
