Technology classroom graduation at Bilbao Engineering School

16 October 2020

12 students graduated from 2019-20 UPV/EHU-TECNALIA Technology Classroom at the Faculty of Engineering in Bilbao

All the students received their certificates for research projects in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Confidence, Renewable/Sustainable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Distributed Generation, Smart Grids, Additive Manufacturing, Flexible and Smart Machines and Production Systems, New Materials and Manufacturing Processes, and Automated Driving.

José Luis Martín, Vice-Chancellor of Research of the UPV/EHU and trustee of TECNALIA, stated at the ceremony that “despite being a complicated year, everyone achieved the expected results. I would like to congratulate all the students for their effort in such a complex situation, and for the high quality of the 12 projects. They are an example of how to turn the pandemic into an opportunity in areas that are key to the industrialisation of companies”.

The programme for 2020-21 was also presented at the ceremony. It will be a very special year as it is the 20th anniversary. Students will be able to take part in one of the 18 Master’s projects and in the two JRLs (Joint Research Labs) of the Technology Classroom: Artificial Intelligence and Offshore Renewable Energy. These JRLs include about 80 researchers, generate 65 annual indexed publications, present 6 theses a year and foster over 25 PhD students, accounting for more than 75% of the Technology Classroom’s scientific production.

The UPV/EHU and TECNALIA have a framework collaboration agreement to jointly promote activities related to training, research, transfer, innovation and knowledge dissemination through cooperation spaces, known as EUSKAMPUS poles of knowledge, in relation to the great challenges faced by society and aligned with the Basque Smart Specialisation Strategy. Technology Classrooms are a key tool in the development of this collaboration.
