The section spans from the Cervantes ramp to La Perla club, covering 350 metres of the walkway
TECNALIA is supervising and controlling the manufacture and assembly of the new replacement of the section of La Concha emblematic railings which began in 2017 and will be completed at the beginning of this year.
More specifically, the tests we are performing consist of controlling the foundry manufacture through visual inspections at the workshop and the validation of this production following the performance and evaluation of different laboratory tests (chemical analysis, mechanical characterisation and metallography). The control is carried out at the foundry where the railing is cast and at the workshop where the coating and painting is performed (anti-corrosion protection system).
The section spans from the Cervantes ramp to La Perla club, covering 350 metres of the walkway, producing 550 metres of railing. This increase in the length is due to the fact that it includes sections of the railing belonging to the ramps and steps.
During this replacement that is currently under way, the INFIESTA foundry is responsible for casting not only the straight elements for 5 modules, but also two curved elements for 6 modules (clocks viewpoint), as well as sloped railing elements for the ramps and steps. This has required the design of new models (moulds) for the casting and a particularly exhaustive inspection by the TECNALIA technicians of the curved elements, given the added difficulty in the casting of these sections.
