29 November 2019

An open day for everyone at the UPV/EHU, the University of Bordeaux, DIPC and TECNALIA

The University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), the University of Bordeaux, the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) and TECNALIA held an event today which gathered over 200 researchers from the Euskampus-Bordeaux Cross-border Campus, promoted by both universities.

Euskampus-Bordeaux Eguna is a meeting point for researchers taking part in the Euskampus Poles of Knowledge and in the cooperation work between the UPV/EHU, TECNALIA and DIPC, together with the University of Bordeaux and its associated companies. The event took place at “Le site de la Bastide, Bordeaux”.

Euskampus-Bordeaux Eguna is also a place for social meetings, to celebrate and enjoy our multilinguistic and multicultural richness, and to strengthen friendship and camaraderie amongst the agents from Nouvelle-Aquitaine and the Basque Country.

During Euskampus-Bordeaux Eguna, six researchers from TECNALIA presented their examples of cross-border collaboration at Euskampus Poles of Knowledge:

  • Manu Montejo: Transregional Cooperation in Food and Health Areas
  • Eider Robles: Joint Research Laboratory Marine Energy
  • Javier del Ser: Joint Research Laboratory Artificial Intelligence
  • Juan José Gaitero: New Materials for Sustainability Knowledge HUB
  • Fernando Veiga: ENABLE Project (European Network for Alloys Behaviour Law Enhancement)
  • Ane Miren Irazustabarrena: SUN-PILOT Project (Subwavelength Nanostructure Pilot)

Iñaki San Sebastián, CEO of TECNALIA, added during the closing session that “the Euskampus-Bordeaux Cross-border Campus is a good example of strategic cooperation in order to move forward in the creation of knowledge ecosystems – education, research and innovation. These foster economic, social and cultural development of the regions, with an international scope and facilitating the creation of R&D and innovation value chains with a larger impact and more durability. They do so from completely complementary positions, strengthening synergies between all participating organisations”.
