The Formula Student race at Silverstone turns into a virtual event

This season, for the first time in 14 years, the event that should be held at the British Silverstone circuit will become a virtual competition. The University of the Basque Country will participate in the Formula Student race with a team of students, professors and advisers from the Faculty of Engineering in Bilbao, which, like its rivals, has had to design, build and compete with an electric vehicle”.

The 80 participating teams from different universities all over the world will compete in the presentation “of the design and innovative features incorporated in their prototype, as well as the business model and cost structure that will enable its manufacture”.

The Formula Student Bizkaia team is made up of 66 students. Thanks to the support of the Faculty of Engineering of Bilbao and more than 40 collaborating companies and entities, including TECNALIA, it has been a finalist in the past three editions, winning all three of them.

At TECNALIA, we work with Formula Student validating the engines that will be incorporated in the vehicle, the engine power, its efficiency curves, the refrigeration system, as well as the preparation of the tooling required for use on the test bench for real-time validation.
