Over 300 professionals gathered to consider the possibilities offered by the application of industry 4.0 in the field of architectural envelopes, among other themes
Digitalisation has burst into the world of façades to create more efficient designs in terms of energy and production. This trend has led to the creation of façades 4.0, which was the main focus of the 8thInternational Congress on Architectural Envelopes, ICAE 2018 that took place at the Kursaal Congress Centre in Donostia-San Sebastian on 20, 21 and 22 June.
Taking on the possibilities offered by the application of the industry 4.0 to the world of architectural envelopes was the main goal for ICAE 2018, a congress that brought together over 300 experts. Different themes were addressed at this international congress over the three days. From the use of innovative materials on façades, to new façade installation methods with robots or the use of innovative technological solutions in the field of renovation.
The Congress also looked into the use of renewable energy in architectural envelopes, fire safety of façades, smart windows, new types of sensors for connected envelopes and new manufacturing methods, such as 3D printing.
