"We develop high-performance perception and monitoring systems to solve challenges in the manufacturing, energy or recycling sectors"

TECNALIA is working with INYCOM on the development of high performance perception and monitoring systems for industry

Industry 4.0 and artificial intelligence have transformed the way we perceive, monitor and diagnose problems in industrial environments. However, in real-world environments, there are challenges, such as variable working conditions and limitations in the secure and efficient transfer of large amounts of data.

TECNALIA and INYCOM are working together to develop high-performance perception and monitoring systems that overcome these obstacles through advanced mathematical techniques and state-of-the-art OT/IT technologies to solve challenges in the manufacturing, energy or recycling sectors.

Problems resolved

The initiative solves a number of problems including:

  • Advances in signal processing for condition monitoring in complex industrial environments for production sectors, such as machine tools, robotics, railways, automotive and space.
  • Optimisation of complex monitoring systems to reduce the number of sensors required for the deployment of monitoring systems, thereby reducing the cost and complexity of the solution.
  • Improved characterisation of critical parameters, creating image-corrected multi-sensor devices with high measurement capabilities that will improve accuracy and efficiency in data analysis.
  • Agility in the adaptation of perception systems, in the reduction of annotated data and the optimisation of the life cycle of the models will allow for rapid adaptation of the monitoring systems to different industrial environments.
  • Sustainability, through advances in material identification techniques at the recycling stage, contributing to more efficient and sustainable waste management.
  • Renewable energy production in improving the operation and maintenance of wave and wind energy infrastructures, optimising their performance and extending their useful life.
  • Accessibility of technological solutions for the deployment of innovative solutions in environments in which current technologies are not competitive, facilitating access to digitalisation and industrial automation.

Technology that improves business processes

Advanced monitoring will enable companies to monitor their processes in real time and under real working conditions, identifying and solving problems more efficiently. This will also enable them to anticipate corrective measures, thus reducing their costs and improving productivity.

This initiative also has a direct impact on society through its applications in key sectors, including the operation and maintenance of wave power and wind energy, as well as the autonomous identification of materials for separation at the recycling stage. These solutions will increase efficiency, sustainability and safety in these areas, generating a positive economic and environmental impact.

The initiative, called NEXTMON, covers such interesting applications as wave energy generators, manufacturing processes with dynamic signals or recycled material streams.
