Driving innovation in three countries of the Sava River basin; Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The main objective of the European 6SAVA, initiative, led by TECNALIA, is to foster greater knowledge transfer and implement technology and innovative collaborations in three countries of the Sava River basin: Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"By establishing a sustainable bridge between diverse actors, we seek to harmonise regional R&D initiatives with smart specialisation priorities", explains Milos Kostic, Health researcher at TECNALIA. "This approach is complemented by our drive to raise quality and scope, which ensures that innovation is a key element in the market”.

6SAVA is poised to set a new standard of excellence in regional research and innovation: it uses the integration of measures such as stakeholder engagement, proposal brainstorming, modular training and the development of a technology adoption platform. Therefore, this project improves knowledge transfer, technological progress and collaborative excellence across the Sava River basin; spanning Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The result will be the development of high quality applications for national/regional funding. The objective is to support advancing these technologies towards market-readiness and therefore increase their uptake in the targeted regions.

Launch of the European 6SAVA project

6SAVA (6thSense Asset Valorisation Action) builds on the successful results and commercial potential of previous research and innovation actions to contribute to boosting innovation capabilities, technology adoption and competitiveness in the Sava region.

  • The project seeks to align European and regional research initiatives and funding schemes to significantly increase the involvement of local actors and foster innovation in the regional ecosystem. As part of this project, stakeholders in the region will have free access to specific modular training to develop innovation capabilities, as well as to the 6SAVA digital platform for technology adoption.
  • This project ensures a comprehensive approach to technology valorisation and exploitation (in line with the strategic needs of the region) and is supported by Horizon Europe's WIDERA programme. Its outcome will drive capacity building and the adoption of innovative solutions in three expanding countries: Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Valorisation of assets developed at SIXTHSENSE

6SAVA focuses on the strategic valorisation of the assets developed in the TECNALIA H2020 SIXTHSENSE project. It also sets new standards in health monitoring and the safety and efficiency of emergency teams and workers in demanding industrial environments.

The project leverages two different assets:

1) An Industry 4.0 health monitoring device ensures the safety of employees in physically demanding manufacturing jobs, starting with the cement, petrochemical and paper industries.

2) A comprehensive IT solution for operational management of fire brigades, with the potential for generalisation and application throughout the civil protection sector.

European Consortium

This initiative brings together five partners from four European countries, underlining the value of cross-border collaboration and expertise. Led by TECNALIA along with Telegroup Croatia (Croatia), Telegroup Bosnia (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Global Electronic Solution (Serbia) and the 6SAVA consortium.
