Opportunities offered by wearables in terms of health and safety

52 professionals working with wearable technologies gathered on 12 December in Bilbao to help supply and demand meet, and to analyse possible collaboration and entrepreneurship opportunities.

As well as interesting presentations by Iberdrola, Ertzaintza, the Port Authority and Osatek, amongst others, there were work tables in which various challenges and opportunities offered by wearable technology were defined for sectors like health and safety.

Opportunities like occupational safety and monitoring, as well as challenges concerning effectiveness and ROI, were some of the most important issues mentioned by participants. These conclusions will encourage Bibao Ekintza and organisations like TECNALIA, which took part in the organisation of this meeting, to plan ways of collaborating and researching in order to help to overcome barriers that are still present.
