RECONMATIC aims to transform construction and demolition waste management using automated solutions and circular economy practices.
Shaoxing, Zhejiang - 20-21 August 2024 - The RECONMATIC project, promoted by Horizon Europe, took a major step forward in the sustainable management of construction and demolition waste (CDW) during a crucial event held in Shaoxing, China. This meeting brought together European and Chinese experts to address one of the country’s biggest environmental challenges: the management of the approximately 3 billion tonnes of CDW generated annually.
About RECONMATIC
RECONMATIC is a pioneering project that aims to transform construction and demolition waste management using automated solutions and circular economy practices. With the aim of improving recycling rates and reducing environmental impact, RECONMATIC promotes the reuse of materials and the optimisation of recycling in the construction sector.
International collaboration
The two-day event in Shaoxing included a national symposium on CDW management, thematic discussions and a visit to a renewable energy production plant that combines CDW recycling with biomass production. This innovative approach demonstrates the potential of combining waste recycling with renewable energy generation, supporting a circular and sustainable economy.
TECNALIA’s approach
TECNALIA, one of the main partners of the RECONMATIC consortium, is strongly committed to the development of advanced technological solutions for waste management. Its mission is to combine innovative technologies and circular practices to turn construction waste into valuable resources and promote a greener future.
Next steps
The event in Shaoxing not only strengthened the collaboration between European and Chinese partners, but also laid the foundation for future innovations and international standards in SCW management. TECNALIA is excited about moving forward with this project and the positive impact it will bring globally.
