Components based on automated and digitalised prepreg continuous fibre incorporate Industry 4.0 concepts
We have developed a semi-industrial production line of components based on automated and digitalised prepreg continuous fibre. It consists of three main stations configured as a sequence in a single production cell: automatic laying of fibre and semi-finished products, preform hot-forming and curing.
This new technological development helps the industry to increase productivity and optimise cycle times, costs, energy and materials.
It enables us to gather real-time information on the status of the materials and components: the process is monitored through sensors and artificial vision systems and the generated data is analysed in real time.
We also adjust the process parameters by means of smart control and automated inspections. As a result, the manufacturing cycle time for one geometrically complex part and fibre layers takes under ten minutes.
The component manufacturing sector needs automation, manufacturing cycle time reduction, lightweighting thanks to design optimisation and a longer material life-cycle by means of recycling and recovery.
