TECNALIA leads the coordination, roll-out and implementation of Laboratories for Change
The Co-Create Change in Research Funding and Performing initiative is intended as a driver for the transforming capacity of Responsible Research and Innovation RRI to bring about institutional change. It develops methodologies and tools and tackles the real problems faced at all stages of the research and development process, including funding.
The initiative aims to develop practical tools, based on the social and ethical issues faced by researchers and managers in the day-to-day of research and innovation work.
Laboratories for Change
One of the primary resources will consist of developing what are known as “Laboratories for Change”. TECNALIA will be at the forefront of their coordination, roll-out and implementation phases, thanks to our experience accumulated from other initiatives, such as New HoRRIzon.
These Laboratories for Change will facilitate awareness, take-up and implementation of a range of initiatives based around RRI key points, such as open access, ethics, scientific education, governance, gender equality and citizen participation. They will strengthen R&D processes, adapting them to societal needs and expectations.
The project will also develop a system of indicators to monitor how far the adaptation, contribution and impact of the spaces towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Further information
The project, coordinated by AIT (Austria), involves leading research centres including VTT (Finland) and TU Delft (The Netherlands), as well as research funding bodies such as the Council of Tampere Region (Finland) and Vienna Science and Technology (Austria).
The preliminary meeting for the launch of the Co-Create Change in Research Funding and Performing Co-Change took place over 9 & 10 of March. The initiative is funded by the EC's Horizon 2020 programme.
