“AGALEUS is currently already implementing another two research projects together with TECNALIA”

TECNALIA has signed a framework collaboration agreement for the next three years with AGALEUS to foster research into waste recovery

This agreement between TECNALIA and AGALEUS continues the collaboration that began in 1990 between the two entities. This cooperation has enabled the launch of projects on efficiency and the search for advanced environmental solutions aimed at the environmental, construction, aluminium and paper sectors.

Projects underway

AGALEUS is currently carrying out another two research projects with TECNALIA:

  • PROCEN, for the recovery of MSW incineration ash and biomass, aimed at obtaining construction products.
  • KE-AL, for the recovery of fume dust from the aluminium manufacturing process at Aludium’s Amorebieta plant.

AGALEUS began to develop R&D&I initiatives with technology centres and companies in 1990, and during this time it has carried out a multitude of sustainability and the environmental projects.

Investing in development

In the last 10 years, the group has invested 2.3 million euros in R&D&I in more than 12 collaborations with the Basque technology network and in consortium with other relevant industries in the Basque Country. For more than 25 years, it has been committed to innovation and developing R&D&I projects, in which it works closely with local companies from multiple sectors, universities and technology centres, focusing on the areas of circular economy and digitalisation.

The company currently has a budget of 1.3 million euros for circular economy initiatives and more than half a million euros for Industry 4.0. Over the next five years, the company plans to invest around €500,000 annually in R&D&I.
