Technological solutions for a smart city model
News
On 11 June, in the Plenary Committee of the Smart Tourist Destinations Network, chaired by HM King Philip VI, we joined the DTI Network
The Secretary of State for Tourism and SEGITTUR (the Spanish Society for the Management of Tourism Innovation and Technology) coordinate the Network whose future strategy is based on governance, sustainability, accessibility, innovation and technology as its backbone.
Our incorporation to the DTI Network is based on our work and support in promoting synergies and knowledge transfer in the tourism sector and on our expertise in one of the key pillars, digitalisation, and R&D and innovation activity in the said sector.
Promoting innovation in the Spanish tourism is especially relevant today. The president of SEGITTUR, Enrique Martínez said "we are working to improve and adapt the methodology of the Diagnosis of Smart Tourist Destinations and the recommendations of the Action Plan, with the aim of incorporating issues related to the situation, such as future communication , market repositioning or employment support initiatives".
This Network is aware of the need to transform our tourist destinations into smart and sustainable, open and dynamic destinations to make them attractive to tourists. At TECNALIA we agree with the president of AMETIC, Pedro Mier, when he stated in the committee that "in the face of the current tourism crisis, the sector must reinvent itself and use the technologies that digitalisation offers it".
With the new incorporations of this month, the DTI Network is made up of 148 members, 89 of which are destinations, 24 institutional members and 35 collaborating companies.
