Academics and entrepreneurs explore the future of AI in the Biobío region, Chile, with TECNALIA
On 12 October, the “Artificial Intelligence Summit: Transformation for Industry 4.0” was held in the framework of the FIC Digital Transformation of SMEs project in the Biobío region, Chile. This event brought together leading national and international experts to explore opportunities and challenges of AI for industry.
AI and the opportunities it offers industry
The opening speech was given by our colleague Iñigo Lazcanotegui, Manager of Smart Systems: he talked about AI and the opportunities it offers industry.
During his presentation he highlighted the transformational potential of AI in various economic sectors: “The industrial ecosystem of the Biobío Region is very similar to that of the Basque Country, with many metallurgical companies where the implementation of digital systems is not evident. This area should start implementing AI in production and then move onto manufacturing processes, in order to achieve more efficient operations and establish a clear roadmap”.
The programme also included presentations and panel discussions by several representatives from the academic, political and business worlds: they talked about the challenges facing companies, and the importance of the hybridisation of these transforming agents.
Artificial Intelligence Discussion Forum
The event ended with a discussion forum on AI which explored perspectives and learning cases in industry. Distinguished professionals and leaders from companies such as Arauco, Betech, Lemu Products, Strong by Form, Prosein Ltda., and academics from the University of Biobío were also present.
An interesting meeting to face the future of AI and the transformation of industry with optimism.
