TECNALIA participates in the drafting of an iso standard on adaptation to climate change planning

4 June 2020

The ISO/TS 14092:2020 standard will enable local governments to get ready for heatwaves, floods or droughts

The recently published ISO/TS 14092:2020 standard, whose drafting included the participation of some of our experts, provides local governments and communities with guidance to face different threats: heatwaves, floods or droughts.

The document describes how to draw up an adaptation plan: the planning process details why and how to establish an appropriate governance structure, as well as the elements of the planning and implementation processes.

This standard complements ISO 14090, which sets out the principles, terminology and requirements of the adaptation, and ISO 14091 (still under development) which specifies the guidelines on vulnerability, impacts and risk assessment of climate change.

This group of standards contributes towards the fulfilment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) with special emphasis on SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
