TECNALIA has taken part in 1o focus groups with business associations and universities, and held more than 40 interviews with sector institutions and businesses
In January last, a team made up of members of TECNALIA's Business Strategy and Intelligence and ICT areas held a series of business meetings in El Salvador.
The initiative, promoted by the Salvadoran Ministry for the Economy Office for Innovation and Quality, analyses the technical and economic feasibility of setting up a Business Technology Research and Development Centre, to specialise in design.
The Government of El Salvador will support the setting up of a new Business Technology Research and Development Centre, to serve as a benchmark and an agent for change in Information and Communication Technologies. The centre would focus on strengthening capacities in the sector, fostering innovation and developing talents, using IoT, virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, Big Data, the cloud, cybersecurity and other emerging technologies.
In the first phase, the participants discussed aspects of digital transformation, ICT trends and the importance of technology centres in fostering and catalysing the ICT sector innovation ecosystem.
Among the subjects on the table was the roll-out of policies and programmes to strengthen capacities in the ICT industry at country level, due to the importance of the sector in itself and its impact on other end sectors, particularly in the creative industries.
Investing in research structures aimed at the ICT segment results in knowledge being converted into GDP and, by this means, generating the capacity to increase efficiency, productiveness and digitalisation in the industrial sector in El Salvador.
