The SUPREME initiative will develop genetic tools and foods that allow early diagnosis and personalised nutritional intervention
The goal of the SUPREME initiative is to position the Basque Country in the medium term at the forefront of the prevention of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and heart disease; reducing the incidence of these diseases in elderly patients with cognitive impairment through intervention tools and new food products.
This project is an excellent opportunity to promote the growth of biosciences in the Basque Country and stimulate the development of the Basque food industry. Health is a priority for society, so prevention is one of the keys to maintaining the viability of the social and healthcare systems that we currently enjoy.
The ageing of the population poses future multi-disciplinary challenges to ensure that the population enjoys longer life and better quality of life; through active, positive and healthy ageing models integrated within the country, territory, and urban development.
