The smart system for energy efficiency in industry 4.0 developed by Gestamp and TECNALIA receives another recognition

16 October 2019

The initiative is a finalist in the enerTIC Awards which recognise innovative technological projects in the field of energy efficiency and sustainability

The smart system for the diagnosis of energy inefficiencies in industrial production processes in industry 4.0 has been recognised by the prestigious DatSci Awards backed by the BDVA (Big Data Value Association). It is now a finalist in the Smart Manufacturing Category in the 7th Edition of the enerTIC Awards: the awards for energy efficiency innovation and technology in the digital era.

The technology, known as NAIA I4.0 (Neurtu eta Aditu Industrian Aurrezteko / Measuring and observing for savings in Industry), is a smart system for the diagnosis of energy inefficiencies at industrial plants. It has been co‑developed by Tecnalia and Gestamp and validated at Gestamp facilities since 2018.

The development of the NAIA 14.0 system was co-funded by Gestamp, Tecnalia and SPRI (through the Basque Hazitek programme) and is currently in the product development phase (industrialisation) based on the original validated prototype.

Energy efficiency and sustainability

From 1st October to 15th November, registered users will be able to cast their votes in order to choose the winner in each category. Winners will be announced at the Official Award Ceremony that will be held at the Secretary of State for Digital Advancement (Madrid).

This award is another recognition of Gestamp and TECNALIA's work in the field of digitalisation. The enerTIC Awards recognise innovative technological projects carried out by companies and organisations that are committed to energy efficiency and sustainability. This is the case of NAIA I4.0, a system that uses data analytics techniques in such a way that the system learns from a set of historic readings for electricity, gas and compressed air consumption. Said data is measured at different levels: plant, process, machine, energy consumption cause and effect relationship and production at industrial plant level.

NAIA I4.0 helps the plant operator to understand the process consumption and carry out effective management which leads to significant economic savings without jeopardising the production.
