22 May 2019

Private initiative made up of 49 companies covering the entire value chain of the railway sector

The Railway Innovation Hub, located at the PTA (Andalucia Technology Park) in Malaga, was created with the mission of promoting technology and knowledge of the railway sector internationally through the generation of collaborative R&D projects, the commercialisation of technology and know-how, the promotion of entrepreneurship and the provision of specialised services, as well as being a global benchmark in railway innovation.

This private initiative is made up of 49 companies which jointly cover the entire value chain of the railway sector, including Alstom, Bombardier, Siemens, Ferrovial, Indra and Talgo, among others.

Since last April, we are one of its members, being the first Research and Technological Development Centre. Our mission is to contribute to the scientific and technological development of companies and society. The relationship model that we establish with companies varies depending on their degree of technological innovation. We adapt to the needs of each one of them.

We offer laboratory services where experts certify and validate the processes, systems and products that are going to be transferred to the market. In addition, we develop personalised R&D and innovation projects in order to generate business impact through the use of technology.

At TECNALIA Ventures we connect companies with the three basic pillars of the technology transfer process to the market: ideas and technological assets aimed at generating business, people with a business profile who transform those ideas into solutions, and investors who are committed to their development.

Sustainable transport and information systems

We specialise in sustainable transport and, in particular, in the railway sector. We work with innovative technologies and processes in rolling stock with advanced and lightweight materials, in fire protection solutions (fire laboratory or RTM doors), and for railway operators as supervision and support services for management, infrastructure operations and security and cybersecurity services.

We also develop passenger information systems for smart mobile devices, ticketing and other innovative systems that improve the user experience.
