This technology-based start-up company develops medical devices for the rehabilitation of stroke patients and those affected by neuromuscular diseases
TECNALIA's FIK initiative launched the FESIA start-up in 2016 with the aim of improving the quality of life of stroke patients and those affected by neuromuscular diseases in all of the stages of their rehabilitation process, using medical devices based on a new technology of functional electrical stimulation.
Functional electrical stimulation is a technology used by specialists due to the benefits that it brings to rehabilitation: improving walking dynamics, preventing muscular atrophy, improving balance. It is a technology that has been well accepted by the market since its launch, as the current functional electrical stimulation devices have limitations and require expert knowledge to use them properly.
As well as the FesiaWalk device, and based on the same technology, FESIA plans to launch a second high-tech product for the rehabilitation of the upper limbs called FesiaGrasp.
Fesia Technology has opened a round of investment of 800 thousand euros through the Capital Cell crowdfunding platform to fund the launch of its first two products for the rehabilitation of stroke patients and consequently become a reference in functional electrical stimulation. Following the round of investment, both devices will be launched onto the market to address the current market limitations in this technology, as well as to offer users new advantages. Those interested in contributing to the project with a minimum investment of €1000, may do so via the Capital Cell website.
