New industrialised façade system on which we have worked

Nuevo sistema de fachada industrializada con prestaciones optimizadas

"We have installed two modules of this new industrialised façade system on our Kubik experimental building in order to analyse the efficiency of the whole process"

We have worked with the Habic Cluster, ULMA Architectural Solutions and the ORMAK Group on the development and validation of a new industrialised modular façade system

TECNALIA is working with the Habic Cluster, ULMA Architectural Solutions and the ORMAK Group to develop an industrialised enclosure system with advanced thermal performance that allows for the automation of the off-site manufacturing process and its commissioning. The initiative aims to promote industrialisation in the construction sector

The involvement of the different agents from the value chain in the initiative, from manufacturers to construction companies, is key, as it enables the prototypes to be designed, planned and validated from the different perspectives involved.

Installation of the prototypes on the Kubik experimental building

TECNALIA has been responsible for defining the requirements that this enclosure must fulfil from a regulatory, transport and modularity point of view. It has also validated compliance with these pre-defined requirements through testing.

Finally, it has coordinated the assembly of two façade modules on TECNALIA'sKubik experimental building, located in Derio. With this test, the integration of the system on the building has been validated and the efficiency of the whole process has been analysed, measuring times and providing data for a subsequent cost analysis in order to have a global vision of the whole system.

Progress towards industrialisation in construction

This process represents a move towards industrialisation in construction, improving the quality of the building enclosure, reducing on-site installation times and increasing the energy efficiency of the building. This new enclosure system has the following features:

  • Manufacturing in a controlled environment to ensure higher product quality and minimise waste.
  • Precise installation with a plug & playsystem.
  • Improved thermal performance through a design that minimises thermal bridges.
  • Guarantee of performance through product certification.

This development is part of the Indeco initiative, backed by the ERAIKAL Programme 2022 within the Basque Government's Department of Housing and Urban Agenda.
