Novel healthy technological foods for new social needs

9 November 2018

Healthy and balanced diet with the manufacture of healthy foods and drinks that are low in sugar

The development of technological and functional natural ingredients obtained from by-products of the food industry is a field in which we are actively collaborating. The objective is to obtain natural and safe sweeteners so that the food industry can manufacture healthy foods and drinks that are low in sugar.

The TECFOOD initiative aims to achieve new technologically advanced food products, which are balanced from the nutritional point of view, in innovative formats such as foams, dips, or even cartridges for 3D printers.

New food technologies are being incorporated in the market, such as a 3D food printer with a cooking and hygiene system and software. Its use is aimed at the preparation of previously designed dishes to provide a healthy and balanced diet, and adapted biodegradable cartridges.

These developments address two of the great challenges of today's consumers:

  • Demand for healthy and even fortified foods which contribute to increasing people's quality of life.
  • Products that respond to a connected consumer and which seek food developments that adapt to their rhythm of life.

TECFOOD, initiative in which TECNALIA collaborates, is coordinated by UVESA and is made up of Natural Machines and Indukern, among other companies.
