TECNALIA facilitates and streamlines the different stages involved in the manufacture of high value-added components.
TECNALIA creates autonomous, smart machine tools in collaboration with Basque companies Ibarmia, Shuton and Talleres MYL through the Smart-Easy initiative, run by the Burgos-based company Nicolás Correa, in which GNC Ypatia, Inmapa Aeronáutica, Alava Ingenieros and Things 02 are also involved.
The main innovation is the development of software technologies, mechatronic and adaptronic systems to create autonomous, smart machine-tools to facilitate high value-added manufacturing operations for manufacturers. They will promote the safety, productivity and quality of machining operations, in a way that is quick and easy for users, and without the need for permanent supervision.
Software technologies
Ibarmia has integrated the different modules, applications and systems into its machining centres to facilitate the work of manufacturers. These developments will provide the Gipuzkoan company with more robust and precise machining centres than the current ones.
As a manufacturer of high-precision ballscrews, Shuton will produce ballscrews fitted with sensors and embedded software. This work will allow it to enter new markets with a high technological content, such as the aerospace industry.
In the case of MYL, which manufactures headstocks and electro-boring machines, its role will be based on sensor technology and digitalisation in order to develop smart headstocks. They will offer their users two competitive advantages: continuous information from the headstock, and a remote predictive maintenance service approach.
TECNALIA will create different hardware and software technologies aimed at facilitating safe, productive and high quality manufacturing operations, and computer vision to automate different auxiliary operations such as alignments.
