TECNALIA has recently installed a new calorimeter with a large hood in its Fire Safety Laboratory. This new equipment strengthens its experimental capabilities for reaction-to-fire research.
The calorimetric hood is an essential piece of equipment to understand how different materials products and systems react to fire. Because of its large size (4x4x4 m), TECNALIA can test on a larger scale and obtain results that are more representative of real fire situations.

These new experimental capabilities will allow TECNALIA’s team to know the heat and smoke emission pattern on a real scale and with fewer size limitations: they will enable the technological centre to analyse and assess the reaction to fire of products, equipment and systems. TECNALIA will be increasing its potential to carry out advanced research for the development of solutions to improve fire safety.
