Deusto Business School students take part in developing a technology that reduces the problems of high noise levels from railways in urban environments.
The University of Deusto has a collaboration agreement with the TECNALIA Ventures deep tech venture builder to develop entrepreneurship and technology transfer projects.
A group of students doing a double degree in Business Administration and Management and a degree in Computer Engineering at the Donostia-San Sebastián campus have become involved in the “mini noise barrier” incubation project as part of their final degree project.
Under the guidance of Mikel Korta, head of the Innogune business incubator at the University of Deusto, 5th year students Eider Albarracín, Imanol Aizpuru, Maider Dorronsoro, Ibone Urquiola and María Zubia have joined Jesús Torrecilla, Marketing Specialist at TECNALIA Ventures, to develop the “mini noise barriers” initiative, a technology that seeks to respond to the problems of high noise levels from railways in urban environments.
The students have conducted an in-depth study of the entry strategies for this new technology in the European market. They have also identified potential risks, defined contingency plans for them and provided conclusions on feasibility and possible returns.
“This curricular collaboration with TECNALIA Ventures, which has gone from strength to strength over the years, allows students to see the reality of incubating new business projects and work with key players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, adding value to their projects. Every year, Deusto Business School offers its students a wide range of final degree projects in collaboration with different types of companies and institutions. Market studies, communication and marketing plans and strategic analyses of new sectors are some of the projects that are most in demand. Every year we also work with SMEs, freelancers and start-ups, in short, entrepreneurs and promoters of initiatives who do not necessarily know about companies or business plans, and students bring a lot of value to them”, explained Cristina Iturrioz, Final Degree Project Coordinator at Deusto Business School on the Donostia-San Sebastián campus.
