“With TECNALIA’S help, FOTOPLAT analyses opportunities and challenges, as well as capacities for large-scale module manufacturing.”
TECNALIA experts have participated actively in the Annual Meeting of FOTOPLAT - the Spanish Photovoltaic Technology Platform
Eduardo Román, Head of Photovoltaic Systems at TECNALIA, has presented the European Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), prepared by the European Photovoltaic Technology Platform.
Paco Cano has participated in a discussion table on the manufacture of large-scale photovoltaic panels in Spain. Among other aspects, existing national capacities for such manufacturing was discussed, as well as the opportunities that the European Green Pact, Recovery Plans and other initiatives offer for industrial development in the manufacture of modules.
A second discussion table, moderated by Ana Huidobro, researcher at TECNALIA, has focused on innovation and social and environmental impact: installation and use phase (impact on biodiversity) and incorporation of photovoltaic parks into the circular economy (eco-design and end-of-life of parks and components: dismantling, recycling of components…).
Actions that have already been developed by the major installers to achieve the sustainability of the photovoltaic sector and a positive social perception have been proposed, as well as the needs and demands of technological developments to make photovoltaic farms more sustainable.
