We promote energy transition towards a decarbonised, decentralised and digitised energy system. We do so through optimal energy management of demand flexibility, distributed renewable generation, microgrids, energy communities and the electric vehicle charging infrastructure, considering potential participation in the different electricity markets and the operation of the electricity system.

Our key technologies include:

  • Assessment of the impact of the integration of renewable energies in the electrical grid, distributed generation and storage and the electric vehicle in off-line and real-time simulation environments (hardware-in-the-loop).
  • Development of algorithms for optimal voltage and power control in electrical grids with high penetration of distributed renewable generation.
  • Specification and design of isolated or grid-connected microgrids; development of their control system.
  • Development of tools to calculate the flexibility of demand in different scenarios, generating optimal offers to participate in the electricity markets, and subsequently dispatching the different energy resources.
  • Specification, design and development of optimal energy management systems for prosumers, power plants and energy communities.
  • Development of power converter prototypes: interconnection to the power grid for distributed generation and storage, and/or provision of quality supply services, interconnection of HVDC offshore  wind farms.

Our technologies make it possible for us to develop solutions for electric utilities, equipment manufacturers, aggregators, infrastructure managers and service providers for an energy-efficient transition.
