Asier Rufino, CEO of TECNALIA Ventures, chaired the meeting whose objective was to build bridges between the Green Tech innovation ecosystems of the European Union and Arab countries
On Friday 4th February, the "Fostering EU - Arab Countries Innovation in Green Tech: Connecting Minds, Scaling-up Strategies and Funding" event was held at the Spanish Pavilion of the Dubai Expo 2020. The event, organised by the Spanish Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020; the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC); the Deep Tech venture builder, TECNALIA Ventures; the London Business School; and the European Innovation Council aimed at building bridges between Green Tech innovation ecosystems in the European Union and Arab countries.
Rufino led the session, accompanied by world-class speakers
The event was held in hybrid format and was attended by world-class international speakers, public bodies, researchers, innovators, start-ups, investors and deep tech companies from the European Union and Arab countries. How green technologies can create a significant positive impact, particularly in green and energy-efficient cities and in climate adaptation was debated.
During the event, the speakers shared different perspectives and experiences. Asier Rufino, who chaired the event, shared the experience of TECNALIA Ventures, TECNALIA's Deep Tech Venture Builder, at the round table in which he participated: “From lab to market”.
Asier explained how the company he directs focuses its efforts on generating connections between the three critical players of any innovation ecosystem, with the ultimate purpose of creating deep tech business opportunities : first-rate researchers (minds), engaged entrepreneurs (management) and smart investors (money).
