“MEDINA works in the areas of improving cloud security performance and managing audit evidence”
MEDINA is an EU-funded research project that works in the areas of improving cloud security performance and managing audit evidence. Its main objective is to create a security framework for continuous audit-based certification in accordance with the EU-wide cloud security certification scheme, the EUCS European Cybersecurity Certification Scheme for Cloud Services.
MEDINA provides cybersecurity and safety solutions that can be applied by industrial and scientific users to increase their resilience to cyber threats, reduce security risks, and ensure compliance with industrial standards.
The 102nd Global Forum organised by the International Information Integrity Institute brought together leading experts and practitioners in the field of cybersecurity and certification between June 26 and 28.. The event, which was held in Croatia, provided MEDINA with a unique platform on which to discuss the future of certification and cybersecurity in Europe.
The presentation of the MEDINA project at this forum focused on the EUCS scheme, highlighting the importance of automation in streamlining and improving traditional certification processes The presentation also served to launch a new initiative from MEDINA called EUROSCAL (EU Friends of OSCAL), which is aimed at promoting the adoption of standards on cybersecurity and automation at a European level.
The i-4 audience showed great interest in MEDINA and its potential for optimising traditional certification processes, including those related to EUCS.
The Open Security Controls Assessment Language OSCAL scheme and the general standardisation strategy adopted by MEDINA also became topics of great interest for the event's attendees. The community particularly appreciated the potential these approaches offer in terms of enhancing traditional Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) frameworks.
The MEDINA standardisation actions are expected to help increase the efficiency and effectiveness of cyber security management across Europe by reducing manual activities and addressing interoperability issues.
The presentation by MEDINA not only highlighted current strategies but also its commitment to sustainability and future development. MEDINA announced its continued support for the EUROSCAL initiative and its participation in MEDINA follow-on projects such as Horizon EU COBALT and EMERALD. These efforts demonstrate MEDINA's determination to continue to contribute to advancing and strengthening the cybersecurity framework that has been in development since 2020.
