Seminar on neuromodulation techniques focused on neurorehabilitation
TECNALIA has organised an on-site seminar to coincide with the visit of Professor Ulf Ziemann, Director and Professor of the Department of Neurology and Cerebrovascular Accidents and co-director of the Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research (University of Tübingen, Germany). The seminar, entitled “Towards non-invasive individualised brain stimulation”, will take place on Friday, November 29 at 3:00 pm at TECNALIA’s headquarters in the Gipuzkoa Science and Technology Park.
TECNALIA has been working in the field of neuromodulation for years, especially on neurorehabilitation, and Professor Ziemann is one of its collaborators and external advisors. The event will look at transcranial magnetic stimulation, a non-invasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate neurons in the brain to improve clinical symptoms.
Neuromodulation of the brain, a new treatment concept
Non-invasive neuromodulation techniques are a new treatment concept:
- Non-invasive.
- Safe and painless.
Small amounts of electrical energy or magnetic fields are used to modulate neuronal activity in specific regions of the brain, with the aim of inhibiting or stimulating their activity to modulate brain functions. They can be used to complement rehabilitation therapies that are being carried out to enhance them, or when treatment is no longer available or drugs have lost all effectiveness.
** The training will be delivered in English.
