The ORIENTING initiative holds its final conference in Brussels, as part of the World Circular Economy Forum 2024
After more than three years of work, the ORIENTING project is drawing to a close. ORIENTING has announced its final conference, “Operational Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment Methodology Supporting Decisions Towards a Circular Economy”. It will take place in Brussels as part of the World Circular Economy Forum 2024 and will present all the results obtained over the course of the project.
- The project partners will use this final conference to share the key aspects of the operational life cycle sustainability assessment methodology devised to evaluate products, and the tools and training materials developed to make it easy for SMEs to implement and adopt them.
- The project partners will also present the links of application within the framework of current and future public policies.
The event will be divided into two parts:
- Presentation of the final results (2:00 - 4:30 pm CEST)
- Session within the WCEF 2024 (5:00 - 6:30 pm CEST) to showcase and take a more in-depth look at the range of applications developed to evaluate sustainable circular solutions.
Life cycle sustainability assessment of products
The ORIENTING initiative, which is coordinated by TECNALIA, has developed an operational life cycle sustainability assessment (LCSA) methodology. The main objective is to integrate a life cycle approach that includes an analysis of environmental, social and economic impacts, as well as circularity and criticality indicators.
The methodology of this project has been tested on five case studies to ensure its applicability to business practices. It has also been applied to different products and a wide range of stakeholders have engaged in open consultation processes.
TECNALIA’s role in this project
TECNALIA has been responsible for making the methodological guidelines developed in the project operational, working on software and data. In other words, TECNALIA defined the variables taken into account in quantitatively measurable factors. This will help creating a level playing field for products, based on sound, transparent, verifiable information on sustainability.
