A guide helps decision-making in the municipal sphere of Navarre

The "Adaptación al Cambio Climático de las Entidades Locales desde el Planeamiento Urbanístico. Guía metodológica para municipios navarros. Propuesta de Instrucciones Técnicas de Planeamiento" (Adaptation to Climate Change of Local Entities through Urban Planning. Methodological guide for municipalities in Navarre. Planning Technical Instructions Proposal) guide has recently been published.

For its development, EGOKI, an initiative developed by the Navarre Network of Local Entities for Sustainability (NELS Network), has relied on the technical assistance and methodological accompaniment of our climate change team.

This guide is a work tool aimed at those who make municipal administration decisions, technical staff and urban planning professionals who must address the challenge of integrating adaptation to climate change into planning.

The Directorate General for the Environment and Regional Planning of the Government of Navarre and the Navarre Sustainability and Territorial Agency, Lursarea, part of the Nasuvinsa public company, are promoting and supporting EGOKI in the incorporation of criteria for adaptation to climate change in urban planning in local entities of the region.

The Fundación Biodiversity, reporting to the Spanish Government's Ministry for Ecological Transition, was approved for its funding in the call for subsidies awarded on a competitive basis to climate change adaptation projects in 2016. This foundation has joined in the project collaboration.

EGOKI helps to fulfil the objectives set out on the Navarre Climate Change Roadmap (KLINA), which is being developed by the Government of Navarre. More specifically, it focuses on preventing vulnerability derived from the impact of climate change in the local sphere.
