“CertifAI develops an innovative AI-driven solution for the continuous assessment and recertification of ICT products, processes and services”

Together with 10 other European entities, TECNALIA is working on an innovative solution, powered by artificial intelligence, for the continuous assessment and recertification of ICT products, processes and services

This solution enables ICT products, processes and services to be designed, developed and maintained with the most robust security measures throughout their life cycle, ensuring compliance with the main cybersecurity standards. Companies can then thrive in a more secure and trusted digital environment, in accordance with EU regulations.

According to the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), “hardware and software products are increasingly subject to successful cyberattacks, leading to a very high estimated global annual cost of cybercrime”. The CRA is designed to create a more secure digital environment by imposing strict cybersecurity requirements on digital products and services.

What problem does it solve?

A low level of cybersecurity causes widespread vulnerabilities and inadequate approaches to identify and mitigate rapidly and constantly evolving cyberthreats and vulnerabilities, making it difficult to continuously comply with regulations, industry standards and best practices.

In order to reduce the impact of cyberattacks and increase the resilience of digital technologies, it is essential to assess the compliance with security standards of ICT products, services and processes throughout their life cycle.

This research project, called CertifAI, offers a solution designed to simplify and optimise regulatory compliance in an increasingly regulated market. This AI-driven research helps companies keep their compliance programmes always aligned with cybersecurity standards, significantly reducing the internal costs arising from compliance management.

By automating the continuous assessment of products, CertifAI not only minimises the risk of non-compliance, but also protects business reputation and avoids potential sanctions, so organisations don’t have to worry about the complexity of different regulations.

TECNALIA at CERTIFAI

From a technical perspective, TECNALIA is working with 10 other European entities in the research and application of advanced techniques in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and in the use of new trends in Machine Learning (ML) and frontier AI models.

These innovations are key to facilitating automated understanding of the requirements of the various cybersecurity standards within the scope of CertifAI. These technologies also enable the automatic detection of potential non-compliance from the early stages of development, which significantly improves the efficiency of the certification process.
