Basque Industry 4.0: construction and sectoral applications for Industry 4.0

24 November 2018

The construction industry is improving its processes and its relationship with the rest of the value chain

The construction sector faces new challenges in applying technology 4.0 and in adapting its implementation to processes, products, services, and redefining business models.

At Basque Industry 4.0 we deal with Building Information Modelling, Big Data, the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR). We focus on how the construction industry is improving its processes and its relationship with the rest of the value chain, coming up with new proposals.

On Monday 26 November at 3pm, our colleague Jose Antonio Chica, the Digital Transformation Manager for the Construction Area will be the moderator for a section on “Sectoral Applications for Industry 4.0”.

Special guests will present their views and recent experience in session 5.2. “Construction”:

  • Iker Garay, the Manager of AIRLAN’s Innovation and Competitiveness Department will present his proposal on “Basque Technological Intelligence for air conditioning systems”.
  • Álvaro Arroyo, Managing Director of ESTUDIOS GIS will focus on innovations to operate infrastructure during use and during the “infrastructure digitalisation” stage.
  • Edurne Nuñez, Research Engineer for ARCELORMITTAL will present the view of a product and construction systems manufacturer on the evolution required to go “from building construction to manufacturing”.
  • Eva Arrieta, Commercial Director of LANIK will display the company’s proposed architecture to allow all activity phases to be integrated, from designing the structures to manufacturing and assembling them, sharing the “Industry 4.0 at LANIK” experience.
