Commissioning Tests of the Substation cables for the Offshore Wind Farm in France

TECNALIA has been awarded with a contract to perform the commissioning tests of the high voltage cables installed in an offshore wind farm substation erected at St Nazaire yard, France, through its first collaboration with PFISTERER France.

CHANTIERS DE L’ATLANTIQUE, one of the world leaders in offshore substations is the main contractor to design, procure, manufacture, and commission the topside of the substation for the offshore wind farm

PFISTERER, a leading specialist supplier and system provider in the field of energy infrastructure, takes on the supply, installation, and validation of the high voltage cable systems.

A total of 8 x 225 kV and 24 x 66 kV XLPE insulated cables were submitted to the commissioning tests, which included a withstand voltage test and partial discharge measurements on the main insulation. All the tests performed were satisfactory.

The wind farm will provide green energy to nearly 800.000 people
